Joint Fisheries and Aquaculture & Cattail Collaborative Intern

What I do for Sea Grant

I will work closely with the University of Minnesota Sea Grant fisheries and aquaculture extension educators and other project staff on fisheries and aquaculture projects like the Egg-to-Market Yellow Perch project. I will also support the cattail collaborative project team in comparing regional effects of cattail removal on nearshore lake ecosystems in lakes across Minnesota by measuring water quality variables, identifying plants, and sampling and identifying fish.

Outreach Projects

The University of Minnesota Sea Grant program is developing producer-scale methods for raising Yellow Perch fish from egg to market size in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS).

The Minnesota Cattail Collaborative is a research-to-application project that supports lake and watershed partners across Minnesota in testing a small-scale invasive cattail removal protocol and sharing what works, where, and why.
