Lake Superior Day 2026

Join Minnesota Sea Grant at Barkers Island to celebrate Lake Superior Day 2026, hosted by the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Minnesota Sea Grant's table is focused on water safety and water quality, including using microscopes to explore organisms that indicate water quality. Stop by the table to connect with Sea Grant staff, learn about local freshwater ecology, and discover practices for safely enjoying the Great Lakes.

Lake Superior Day was started in the early 1990s to highlight the lake's importance to the Great Lakes basin's environment and economy. It is held every year on the third Sunday in July and provides interactive activities and learning opportunities for both kids and adults. This year's event is being coordinated and hosted by the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve

This is an all-ages event that is free and open to the public.
