The University of Minnesota’s Water Resources Center, the Minnesota Stormwater Research Council, and the Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification Program are hosting two one-day workshops on vegetation identification and maintenance for public and private stormwater maintenance staff.
Each workshop will begin with classroom instruction on using mobile apps to accurately identify plants, determining which species to remove or retain, and selecting appropriate removal techniques for various sites. This will be followed by a visit to the Sarita Conservation Area, where participants will practice plant identification, learn how UMN’s landcare team manages 143,000 square feet of vegetated stormwater basins, and speak with University researchers about effective strategies for managing cattails in stormwater systems.
Workshops are free to attend, with each session limited to 20 participants. Registration is required.
