Learn about the investigations taking place aboard the 2026 Shipboard Science Immersion from the Great Lakes Educators of Aquatic and Marine Science (GLEAMS) past president, Mandi Young, who will share from an educator's perspective.
2026 project topics include how zooplankton communities change from nearshore to offshore and from day to night, how zooplankton community composition affects larval fish diet selection, and how water color and incoming light affect water chemistry and photosynthesis.
The 2026 Lake Superior Shipboard Science Immersion is hosted by Sea Grant’s Center for Great Lakes Literacy partners Minnesota Sea Grant, Wisconsin Sea Grant and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, with support from the National Sea Grant College Program and NOAA through a partnership among NOAA, the EPA Great Lakes National Program Office and funding from the EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
