Aquaculture is a powerful teaching tool, and this workshop will equip science educators with a baseline understanding of aquaculture and aquaponics.
The workshop will include tours of aquaculture facilities, along with information on how to run a successful aquaponics setup and how to use aquaculture and aquaponics in the classroom. There will be several hands-on labs throughout the event, and educators will walk away with a free small-scale aquaponics system that will be built during the workshop. Participants will also receive a $250 stipend that can be used to offset travel or to purchase classroom equipment.
Lodging and transportation are not provided as part of this workshop. No food is provided on the first day. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the second day.
This workshop is free and open to educators, both formal and non-formal, who intend to use aquaculture or aquaponics as part of their education programs. This workshop is not intended for producers or potential producers, as the emphasis will be on educational applications of aquaculture. Profitable business production will not be covered in this course.
Registration is required to attend this free two-day workshop. Space is limited to 15 attendees.
