Again this year, Minnesota Sea Grant comes to the rescue of folks trying to guess when their lake will be ice-free. You might need some extra help this year since ice thickness on north central Minnesota lakes is only ¼-⅓ the usual thickness. At noon on Friday, March 8, 2024, John Downing will give a webinar showing how weather influences lake ice cover. At the end of the webinar, John will offer a forecast of ice-out dates for Minnesota lakes and show how to track forecasts yourself.
