Join Itasca Waters and Minnesota Sea Grant (MNSG) in learning about the impacts of three species of mystery snail on lake environments as part of the Itasca Water Wisdom online webinar series, co-sponsored by MNSG.
Non-indigenous freshwater species, otherwise known as aquatic invasive species, can negatively impact invaded ecosystems ecologically, socially, and economically. Sometimes the smallest organisms can have surprising impacts.
This presentation will focus on invasive mystery snail impacts to continental North America and will include information on three invasive mystery snails: Chinese mystery snails, Japanese mystery snails, and banded mystery snails. This event will also explore potential mechanisms for continued mystery snail dispersal and what can be done to stop the spread.
