About the Job:
The student employee works in Minnesota Sea Grant’s administrative office in the Chester Park Building on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus and provides support for all aspects of Sea Grant’s mission.
In addition to keeping the front office open, organized, and running smoothly, successful candidates will work with scientists, extension educators, and communicators on a broad range of programs. Current work includes organizing electronic and printed information, performing data searches and analyses, creating displays, handling packing and shipping, assisting with inventory management, supporting scientists and stakeholders, working with extension educators on program preparation and delivery, and a wide range of other emerging tasks.
Interest in and knowledge of sciences involved with water issues is a plus but not required. Training will be supplied by Minnesota Sea Grant personnel.

Qualifications:
- Must be a current UMD student with or without work study.

- Students must maintain half-time enrollment to receive work-study funds. Students enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits during fall and spring semester may be employed under miscellaneous employment during the summer term without summer enrollment.

- Experience with or willingness to learn general administrative skills including phone use (e.g., messages, transfer calls, multiple lines, message taking), photocopying, mailing, experience using MS Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Experience with or willingness to learn research-based methods of analysis.
- Experience with or willingness to learn about program development and delivery.
- Self motivated and solutions oriented.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to effectively manage time allotted to school and to work.
- Able to lift and carry heavy boxes (e.g., 30 pounds).
