Educator Needs Assessment

Minnesota Sea Grant is contacting educators to ask how we can best support you in your learning environment.

Why now? New digital tools, a greater emphasis for online learning, new outdoor classrooms, emphasis on cultural ways of knowing, building sense-of-place, and addressing mental health needs are all reasons we are reaching out to educators.

The results of our Educator Needs Assessment will help our education team develop more effective water-science programming and resources.

Project description

The purpose of the study is to better understand what resources and professional development Minnesota educators need to more readily incorporate Great Lakes and Minnesota-relevant water science and emerging water research topics into their teaching. A variety of events over the past five years have stimulated change and innovation in education. New digital tools, a greater emphasis for online learning, new outdoor classrooms, emphasis on cultural ways of knowing, building sense-of-place, and addressing mental health needs are all reasons we are reaching out to educators like you. How can Minnesota Sea Grant (MNSG) best support you in this new learning environment? The results of this survey will help MNSG’s education team develop more effective water science programming and resources for educators.

This study consists of a brief online survey available to K-12 educators in Minnesota. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Do not submit more than one survey. Survey answers will be anonymous and kept in a secure, password-protected location.

At the end of the survey, there will be an option to enter your name in a separate form for a random drawing to win one of three $50 gift cards. Contact information for the drawing will be collected separately from the survey answers, stored in a secure location, and will be destroyed upon completion of the drawing.
