Navigating Watershed Stewardship: Empowering Teachers and Students

Session at the Minnesota Conference on Science Education 2023 (MnCOSE23)

Minnesota Sea Grant (MNSG) Temporary Watershed Game Education Specialist Kathy Biernat will give a presentation on MNSG's Watershed Game. The Watershed Game is an interactive, educational tool that helps individuals understand the connection between land use and water quality.

Kathy's presentation will be part of the Minnesota Science Teachers Association (MnSTA) Minnesota Conference on Science Education 2023 (MnCOSE23), November 10, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. CT.

Session description

Dive into the world of watershed stewardship with this presentation designed to inspire and equip teachers to embark on exciting projects with their students. Watersheds offer a dynamic and accessible way to explore real-world environmental science, and this session will provide a clear roadmap and lesson plan for bringing this experience to your classroom. The Watershed Game will be highlighted as a tool to use with your students to help them connect how our actions on the land affects the water resources below. By the end of this conference session, you'll be ready to embark on a watershed stewardship journey with your students, fostering environmental stewardship and scientific curiosity.  Together, we'll inspire the next generation of environmental leaders and make a positive impact on our world, one watershed at a time.
