"The Ins and Outs of Ballast Water" is part of the "Virtual Visitor Center" series. This webinar will cover the history and importance of ballast - when not fully loaded, cargo ships must take on water called ballast to maintain stability.

The webinar will also address:

  • Ballast-mediated introduction of aquatic nuisance species.
  • The relationship between Great Lakes trade and ballast water.
  • Ballast water regulations.
  • Research on ballast water management.
