Event description:
"The Ins and Outs of Ballast Water" is part of the "Virtual Visitor Center" series. This webinar will cover the history and importance of ballast - when not fully loaded, cargo ships must take on water called ballast to maintain stability.
The webinar will also address:
- Ballast-mediated introduction of aquatic nuisance species.
- The relationship between Great Lakes trade and ballast water.
- Ballast water regulations.
- Research on ballast water management.
