Screening of Lost but Not Forgotten: A History of Commercial Fishing on Minnesota’s North Shore and Isle Royale

Part of 2026 Twin Ports Festival of History

On March 27, the 2026 Twin Ports Festival of History presents a special screening of the three-part documentary, Lost But Not Forgotten: Preserving the Story of Lake Superior’s Fishing Heritage, at Zeitgeist Theater. This film traces the history of commercial fishing on Lake Superior from early fishing operations in the 1800s through the industry’s rise, fishery collapse beginning in the 1940s, partial recovery, and an uncertain future.

The documentary features interviews and perspectives from local experts, including Minnesota Sea Grant Fisheries Specialist Don Schreiner

All festival events are free and open to the public. A brief trailer offers a preview of the film’s historical footage and interviews.
