Reconnecting to Water Through Education and Outreach at National Outdoor Recreation Conference

The May 14 "Reconnecting to Water Through Education and Outreach" session, featuring Minnesota Sea Grant's Kelsey Prihoda, is part of the 2026 National Outdoor Recreation Conference happening at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center in Duluth, Minnesota, from May 11 to May 14, 2026.

This panel features presenters coming from three different Great Lakes Areas of Concern who are building public trust and promoting safe recreation as these sites approach delisting. The presenters will share successful education and outreach models, ranging from community engagement and water safety campaigns to accessible recreation programming, and will conclude with a collaborative interactive activity to develop creative ideas for messaging, public events, and long-term community stewardship. The reconnection to water in these communities benefits from a strong commitment to collaborative and inclusive outreach.

Registration is required; full-conference and single-day registration options are available.
