Minnesota Sea Grant (MNSG) will host two stations for 4th grade students from the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area at the 2025 Metro Children's Water Festival.
Extension educator Heidi Ferris will run a learning station called "You Are the City Planner" with a build-a-watershed activity and sidewalk chalk drawing. Extension educator Maggie Karschnia and student volunteers will run an MNSG spot at the water arcade, where students will explore the St. Louis River estuary with an interactive map and storycard puzzle.
The Metro Children's Water Festival teaches children about water resources and how they can help ensure a future where both the quantity and quality of water resources are protected and managed wisely. Attendance is free for registered students.
