Mills Fleet Farm Kids' Fishing Appreciation Day

July 12, 2014
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Fleet Farm Retail Outlets in Minn.

Mills Fleet Farm hosts the Kids' Fishing Day on Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mills Fleet Farm locations throughout Minnesota. The event encourages participants to appreciate and learn basic fishing skills, such as casting, knot tying, fish identification, safety, and live bait use.

Minnesota Sea Grant is coordinating the staffing of Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!TM booths at the Mills Fleet Farm Kids' Fishing Appreciation Day events to help educate fishers, young and old, about the problems caused by aquatic invasive species such as Eurasian watermilfoil and zebra mussels. Sea Grant is also supplying materials and invasive species specimens to each of the booths.

Representatives from Minnesota Sea Grant and aquatic invasive species specialists, law enforcement, and waterfront inspection specialists from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be available to answer questions and help young anglers learn ways to prevent the spread of invaders.

Kids' Fishing Appreciation Day is free and open to all kids. If you have any questions about the event, please visit the Customer Service Desk at one of the following Minnesota Mills Fleet Farm locations: Alexandria, Baxter, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Cambridge, Carver, Fergus Falls, Lakeville, Oakdale, Owatonna, Rochester, Waite Park, and Winona.
