Minnesota Beach Sweep

September 28, 2013
Beaches in MN

Free. Volunteer to beautify Minnesota beaches.

The Alliance for the Great Lakes is coordinating this year's Beach Sweep through the Adopt-a-Beach initiative. The "Sweep" is part of the International Coastal Clean-up, a global project in which groups clear litter from shores of over 120 countries. During this event in 2012, 348 people cleaned 3,947 pounds of debris from 27 miles of Lake Superior shoreline! Minnesota Sea Grant helps to sponsor this event. The Great Lakes Aquarium provides all materials. If you would like more information go to www.greatlakesadopt.org or contact the Alliance's local Adopt-a-Beach coordinator, Emma Wiermaa: ewiermaa@greatlakes.org, 218-740-2070.
