Turfgrass Maintenance with Reduced Environmental Impacts

This free training offers information about best practices for managing turfgrass (mowing, seeding, fertilizer and pesticide application, and more). Lunch will be provided free of charge.

Training topics include:

  • Equipment calibration
  • Selection and application of fertilizers
  • Mowing techniques
  • Pesticide application tips
  • Environmental effects
  • Best practices for turfgrass management
  • Legal issues and additional resources

An optional test will be offered at the end of the workshop to earn Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Level I Certification in Turfgrass Maintenance Best Practices. Certified individuals are listed on the MPCA website.

This event is hosted by the Regional Stormwater Protection Team (RSPT), University of Minnesota Duluth: Natural Resources Research Institute (NRRI), and Minnesota Sea Grant. Funding for these workshops is provided by MPCA through a grant from US EPA, Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Fund, and matches from local partners.
