Aquatic Invasive Species Threats to Lake Vermilion Area

The Sportman's Club of Lake Vermilion Board will meet to discuss the prevention of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in the Lake Vermilion area. Representatives from the Town of Cook and Tower, Beatty, Breitung, Greenwood, and Vermilion Lake, Bois Forte Tribal Council, the media, and Commissioner Mike Forsman are invited. Presentations will provide up-to-date information on AIS threats, what is taking place regarding AIS in Minnesota, what recent Minnesota DNR events have occurred to address the problem. Guest speaker, Doug Jensen, aquatic invasive species program coordinator, University of Minnesota Sea Grant Program, will share his experience and knowledge about the threats of AIS, and how working together can protect Lake Vermilion and other area lakes from AIS.
