This will be a unique “traveling course” that investigates the history, economic, and environmental issues of Great Lakes shipping. Participants will explore Great Lakes shipping history, economics, intermodal transport of goods, harbor development and maintenance, navigation, vessel traffic service, environmental challenges of shipping, and careers. This institute will provide unique opportunities for interactions with the people who make shipping happen and the challenges which they face.
